Contact us

Email [email protected]. Tell us your phone model, your Android version and what you were pointing the camera at. There are no accounts, so we will never ask for a password.

A title is not recognized

RateLens reads the title, author or brand printed on what you point at. These usually help:

  • Fill the frame: move closer so the cover, poster or package takes up most of the screen and the title text is sharp.
  • Steady light: hold still in even light. Avoid glare from lamps or windows on glossy covers and screens.
  • Try the barcode: for books and products, turn the item over and scan the barcode on the back.
  • Search by name: type or say the title in the app's search instead.

Some titles are not in the rating sources yet, and some ratings are missing for a title. RateLens leaves a missing rating out rather than guessing. If a title you expected keeps failing, email us what it was.

Supported devices

RateLens runs on Android phones with Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later and a rear camera. Looking up ratings needs an internet connection. There is no iPhone version.

Cancel a subscription

RateLens is free today. When paid plans launch, they will be billed by Google Play, so you cancel in Google Play:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  3. Select RateLens and tap Cancel subscription.

Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Google's guide: cancel a subscription on Google Play. Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy.

Restore purchases

This applies once subscriptions are available. Your subscription belongs to the Google account you bought it with, not to the phone. On a new phone or after reinstalling, sign in to Google Play with that same account, open RateLens and use Restore purchases. If it still does not show as active, email us with the order number from your Google Play receipt (it starts with GPA.).

Delete your data

RateLens has no accounts and never stores your photos. To start fresh, uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android Settings. Most data on our servers deletes itself within 24 hours. For the details, and how to ask us to delete what remains, see Your choices and deleting data in the privacy policy.
